PHUKET: -- An armed man clad in a black jacket and wearing a motorbike helmet robbed the Kasikornbank branch near SuperCheap, just north of Phuket Town this afternoon, making off with 2.7 million baht.
The man was recorded by the bank’s CCTV cameras entering the branch on Thepkrasattri Road at about 3pm.
Armed with a homemade handgun, the man threatened one of the tellers, instructing her to fill a bag with money.
Fearing for her life, the teller obliged.
“I was very scared. I just did what he told me to do,” she told the Gazette.
The man quickly left the bank, speeding off on his getaway motorbike heading north.
Phuket City Police Superintendent Col Sermpan Sirikong said he has ordered an island wide manhunt for the robber.
“I have alerted police across the island to make sure he does not get off Phuket. At this stage we are still searching for him. He escaped with 2.7 million baht,” Col Sermpan told the Gazette.
Officers are also searching for the blue-and-white Honda motorbike used as the getaway vehicle.
The motorbike was not fitted with license plates when the robbery was committed.

2 killed in Samut Prakan shooting

SAMUT PRAKAN: -- Two people were killed and two others injured in a shooting on Theparak Road in Samut Prakan's Bang Phli district at 12.30am yesterday.
Police suspected that drugs were the cause of the shooting because the four had prior criminal records involving drugs in Phra Khanong and Samrong Neu police jurisdictions.
Police found the victims in a Honda City sedan riddled with 33 bullet holes. They collected 41 bullets casings from the scene. Five people were in the car, and had left a friend's house on Soi Likhit 7 to get a snack, the friend told police. Weerawat Kwanphetch, 24, and Abhisit Inthachai, 23, were fatally shot while Sayan Kaewnut, 27, and Wannisa Premsri, 27, were injured. An 18-year-old female passenger was not hurt.
A female eyewitness at a nearby bar told police that a black car overtook the Honda and stopped in front of it before its occupants opened fire. Another vehicle, a pick-up truck, came from behind and its occupants also shot at the Honda. She and others at the bar fled inside until it was silent before coming to rescue the victims and alert police. However, police later determined that the attackers had used only one pick-up truck.

Koh Samui Van Driver Tries To Rape Dutch Tourists
The suspect was identified as Mr. Theerapong Seewawat, age 20, living at 165 moo7, Lankhoi, Papayom, Pattalung. He is a driver of a tourist van from a tour agency company in Koh Samui island, Surat Thani.
At 4:50 a.m., the police received the report of the assault from “Ms. Anna” (alias), age 28, and “Ms. Karren,” age 27, both from the Netherlands. The two tourists had been staying at the Nova Samui Hotel on Koh Samui island.
The two Dutch ladies said on the evening of October 30, they had bought ferry boat tickets from a tourist company to travel to the Full Moon party on Koh Pangan island. The company sent a white van to transport them, registration number Nor Khor 4029, Suratthanee. The driver of the van was Mr. Theerapong.
The tourists testified that about 4 a.m., the van came to pick them up for the return trip. In van there were 5 to 6 other foreigners, whom the driver dropped off first at their hotels.
So only the two Dutch ladies were left alone in the van with the driver. But he did not drive straight to their hotel. Instead, he drove around for a while, then turned into soi Panyadee kindergarten school at Chawengnoi Bay, moo 3, Bopud.
It was a quite deserted soi, and very dark there. The suspect stopped the van, and then he began molesting the ladies, and tried to rape them. But they fought and escaped from the van, crying for help. The suspect then fled in the van.
After they got away, the pair notified the police. The police began investigating and tracked down the identity of the driver Mr. Theerapong. They arrested him while he was resting in his house, and seized his van as evidence.
The police then brought the suspect to the victims to identify. But when the ladies saw him, they got frightened and cried out in shock and asked the police to stay close with them. They insisted that Mr. Theerapong was the man who tried to rape them.
Mr. Theerapong denied trying to rape the two tourists. But he admitted taking them to the deserted place. When the victims got frightened and cried out, he said he fought with them, because he had taken some drugs so he could not control his temper.
The police took Mr. Theerapong to have urine test, and the results showed a purple color, indicating the presence of drugs. So the police sent him to the detective officers in Bopud police station to prosecute.

Crazed and naked Kuwaiti arrested by Pattaya Tourist Police on Walking Street
PATTAYA:--The Pattaya Tourist Police were called into action early on Monday Morning after they received reports of a foreign national who had stripped off and jumped into the water close to the entrance of Walking Street.Tourist Police Officers and Foreign Tourist Police Assistants responded to the call and made their way to the location of the old pier on Pattaya Beach only meters away from the entrance to Walking Street. A crowd of hundreds had already gathered to watch the man who appeared to be in a state of delirium.
Eventual the man was persuaded to leave the water but he soon became violent and, at one point, spat at a Police Officer. He was forcibly detained and taken to the Tourist Police Van at the entrance to Walking Street where he was found to be carrying nothing apart from an ID card stating he is a Kuwait National and his name is Mr. Faisal Alrashidi aged 37.

Thai soldiers kill 3 Cambodian illegal loggers
PHNOM PENH, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Thai soldiers have shot dead three Cambodian men for illegally cutting rosewood on the frontier of Thai territory, Cambodian official confirmed on Sunday.
"I got this information this morning that three Cambodian men were killed by Thai soldiers," Prach Chan, governor of Cambodia' s Battambang province, told Xinhua by telephone. "Thai side claimed that those men illegally entered Thai territory for logging."
He added that their corpses were repatriated to Cambodia on Sunday morning.
The incident happened on Saturday on the border between Battambang province's Samlot district and Thailand.
Cambodian people have frequently been killed by Thai soldiers when they illegally crossed border to log in Thai territory.
According to a report of Cambodia-Thailand Border Relation Office released in August, during the first six months of this year, Thai soldiers killed at least 38 Cambodian illegal loggers.
It added that the Thai authorities also deported 68,659 Cambodians illegally crossing the border during the same period.
Cambodia shares over 800 kilometers of border with Thailand to the north and west.

Americans, Australians injured in Phuket-bound tour bus crash

PHUKET: -- A tour bus carrying Australian and American tourists heading from Krabi to Phuket flipped and slammed into a wall of a house in Phang Nga early yesterday afternoon.
Seven of the 18 tourists on the bus were taken to hospital. The rest were administered first aid by rescue workers and then taken to their hotel in Patong.
Officers at the Phang Nga Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office today confirmed that all seven tourists had suffered minor injuries only and had been already released from hospital.
The 35-year-old driver, Prayuth Phutubtim, told police that he hit a large pothole not far from Wat Loh Yoong in Takua Thung, just north of Phuket.
The pothole punctured one of the back-left tyres, causing Mr Prayuth to lose control of the vehicle. The bus then flipped onto its side and crashed into the wall of a house.
“We will continue our investigation into the crash,” said Khok Kloy Police Superintendent Somchai Tanprasert.

PHUKET: -- Police on Monday arrested a man for impersonating a police officer after he was caught in a sting operation soliciting 8,500 baht from a “victim” who was asked to pay for a dinner hosted by Phuket police chief Choti Chavaviwat.
Chaowaroj Jangjob, 44, was arrested near Phun Phol Plaza in Phuket Town after police received a report from a person, who remained unnamed by police, claiming that the man had called him on his phone.
Mr Chaowaroj allegedly introduced himself as Maj Gen Choti and asked the person to pay for an 8,500-baht dinner at a restaurant.
The “victim” called the police and the report quickly funneled up the chain of command, resulting in Gen Choti ordering police to meet the “victim” at the rendezvous to catch the impostor.
Mr Chaowaroj arrived at 9:30pm and met the “victim”. After chatting for several minutes, the “victim” handed over the cash – and police moved in and made the arrest.
Phuket Provincial Police chief investigator Wanchai Palawan said that Mr Chaowaroj had confessed to conducting at least 41 previous incidents of impersonating a police officer, including a Region 8 Deputy Commissioner.
“He said that over the years he had received about 1.5 million baht in ‘donations’, but that he spent all the money on gambling,” said Col Wanchai.
“He also promised to repay all his victims,” he added.

BANGKOK: -- After a long delay in deciding the fate of Bangkok Futsal Arena, Fifa yesterday delivered a bombshell verdict by denying approval to the billion-baht venue for use at the ongoing Futsal World Cup over security concerns.
Fifa's decision was a stunning slap in the face for the organisers, who had named the Arena situated in Nong Chok district on the outskirts of the capital as main venue for the 24-team tournament. However, they had only themselves to blame, after allowing the Bt1.3-billion construction of the stadium to fall far behind schedule.
Rather than being harsh in dealing such a huge blow to the country's reputation, world soccer's governing body was in fact lenient with local officialdom - it twice postponed the deadline for completion of the stadium.
When authorities failed to meet the initial deadline, the Arena was ruled out as a venue for the Group A fixtures featuring Thailand. Now, Fifa has confirmed that what was to be the crowning jewel of the Futsal World Cup is unfit for use during any stage of the competition.
Fifa's decision not to grant approval will be hard to digest for all the concerned parties, who now know that their huge efforts to ensure everything would be ready in time were in vain. Expectations last week were that Thailand would manage to avoid World Cup disaster, after Fifa provisionally agreed to permit the use of the Arena from the quarter-finals on condition that authorities met its requirements.
So the frustration was magnified given that officials were unable to make the most of their second chance by fulfilling Fifa's conditions at the final inspection on Monday. Fifa stated that its Futsal Committee was concerned over security provision and thus decided not to give approval to the Arena.
The Committee based its decision on a report from the inspection group, including safety and security experts who carried out a thorough evaluation of the stadium. Although significant progress had been made, including the installation of a pitch, Fifa was not satisfied.
Its Committee explained that the safety of spectators, teams and all other visitors to the stadium were of paramount importance to Fifa, and that such a fundamental issue, as well as the functionality of core services and facilities, could not be compromised.
Nevertheless, Fifa acknowledged the round-the-clock efforts made by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), which was responsible for construction of the Arena, to meet the deadline.
The quarter-final fixtures on November 14 will now be played at Nimibutr Stadium, whilst the semi-finals and final will be hosted at the Indoor Stadium Huamark. Both stadiums have already hosted group stage matches.
Tickets that have already been bought for the six scheduled matches at the Arena will be valid at the new match venues.
Suphachai Tantikhom, the Arena director, blamed the stadium farce on government delays in approving the budget for construction.
"We did everything that Fifa requested, except some small issues. The reason we were unable to finish construction on time was the delay in budget approval that caused a lot of problems for us from the beginning."
Suphachai was asked whether being unable to host the Futsal World Cup meant the Arena had failed to meet the purpose for which it was built. He declined to answer the question.
BMA spokesman Wasant Meewong revealed that Bangkok governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra would call a conference on the issue today, but insisted that his office had done its best to ensure the Arena would be ready for the tournament.

BANGKOK, Nov 6, 2012 (AFP) - A "sorcerer" tattooist has been arrested in northeastern Thailand after several brawls involving his disciples who believed his body art made them invincible, police said Tuesday.
Boonyong Luangjumpol was held for possession of guns after officers raided his home following a spate of fights in the province of Kalasin, local police chief Major General Kanisorn Noinard told AFP.
He said the 29-year-old was renowned in the area for creating love potions, as well as his sideline in tattoos which teenage followers believed could protect them from gunshot or knife wounds.
"Police arrested the teenagers and asked them why they fought. They said they were tattooed because they believed it would make them invincible and wanted to test whether it works or not... they used sticks and knives, but guns are rarely seen in the brawls," Kanisorn said.
When asked if the fights had injured any of the followers, he said "every single one" was hurt.
Police decided to conduct the raid because of the links to the brawls, which tended to occur after Buddhist festivals, Kanisorn added. They found several guns and machetes at Boonyong's home, he said.

200 dogs saved from meat market

NAKHON PHANOM, Nov 8 -- Some 200 dogs were rescued from a smuggling racket, found in a truck, about to cross the Mekong River to the neighbouring country of Laos.
A white six-wheel truck with Sakon Nakhon registration plate was found parked near the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom's Ban Phaeng district.
Nakhon Phanom police and provincial Livestock Development Department personnel inspected the truck, finding dogs crammed into 40 cages, seven to 10 dogs per cage.
The driver apparently abandoned his vehicle, and fled the scene before the authorities arrived.
Local authorities believed the dogs were enroute to neighbouring countries for sale as meat for human consumption as the cold season is arriving.
Dog meat is especially in demand in Vietnam during the cold season.
The Thai officials vowed to apply strict measures to prevent smuggling of dogs. Those in custody were to be sent to the Nakhon Phanom Animal Quarantine Station. (MCOT online news)

Krabi tourism hit by Dutch video clip
KRABI: -- Tourism in the seaside province of Krabi has been shaken by the viral video clip of a hit song produced by a Dutch father whose 19-year-old daughter was raped in the province earlier this year, Krabi Tourism Association president Ittirat Kinglek said yesterday.
He said he has been informed that a number of British as well as European tourists have cancelled their bookings at certain five-star hotels in Krabi as they were not confident of the security and safety in the province and the country.
The video would inevitably create the wrong impression about tourism in Krabi.
He was referring to "Evil Man from Krabi", a video clip in which a father says his daughter was raped during her 19-year-old birthday party in Ao-nang Beach in the province.
The father, a Dutch singer, made the clip to campaign for justice for his daughter, furious that a tourist guide, who had been arrested and reportedly confessed to raping his daughter, was freed on bail and retracted his testimony.
The clip became popular viewing in Europe with 81,126 views yesterday. It was posted on YouTube two weeks ago.
Phuket Wan online quoted the Deputy Commander of Krabi police, Pol Col Jongrak Timthong, as saying officers had not given the suspect bail, but that he later denied the charge in court and was granted bail.
"His denial could mean that the case takes a year or perhaps even two years to be decided," Jongrak said.
Colonel Jongrak said that the father of the alleged victim was free to protest if he wished.

According to the online site, the birthday party to celebrate her coming birthday was held at a bar in the tourist resort of Ao Nang, and the suspect offered the daughter a ride on his motorcycle back to her holiday apartment. She told the police that she was beaten so severely that she was sure she would have died had she not finally stopped resisting the attack.
She was treated for her injuries at Krabi Hospital, filed a police report, then returned to the Netherlands.
Ittirit added the video reflected an important lesson for the authorities concerned and should teach them that they must always try to solve a case instead of ignoring it. Tourists having problems should be helped until the end so that they would not feel they had been abandoned.
Authorities should not cover up any information about the case so that the affected tourists know what is being done to help them.
He added the video would surely affect the tourism in the province and the region for a long time to come.

Krabi tourism hit by Dutch video clip
KRABI: -- Tourism in the seaside province of Krabi has been shaken by the viral video clip of a hit song produced by a Dutch father whose 19-year-old daughter was raped in the province earlier this year, Krabi Tourism Association president Ittirat Kinglek said yesterday.
He said he has been informed that a number of British as well as European tourists have cancelled their bookings at certain five-star hotels in Krabi as they were not confident of the security and safety in the province and the country.
The video would inevitably create the wrong impression about tourism in Krabi.
He was referring to "Evil Man from Krabi", a video clip in which a father says his daughter was raped during her 19-year-old birthday party in Ao-nang Beach in the province.
The father, a Dutch singer, made the clip to campaign for justice for his daughter, furious that a tourist guide, who had been arrested and reportedly confessed to raping his daughter, was freed on bail and retracted his testimony.
The clip became popular viewing in Europe with 81,126 views yesterday. It was posted on YouTube two weeks ago.
Phuket Wan online quoted the Deputy Commander of Krabi police, Pol Col Jongrak Timthong, as saying officers had not given the suspect bail, but that he later denied the charge in court and was granted bail.
"His denial could mean that the case takes a year or perhaps even two years to be decided," Jongrak said.
Colonel Jongrak said that the father of the alleged victim was free to protest if he wished.
The words of the song go:

According to the online site, the birthday party to celebrate her coming birthday was held at a bar in the tourist resort of Ao Nang, and the suspect offered the daughter a ride on his motorcycle back to her holiday apartment. She told the police that she was beaten so severely that she was sure she would have died had she not finally stopped resisting the attack.
She was treated for her injuries at Krabi Hospital, filed a police report, then returned to the Netherlands.
Ittirit added the video reflected an important lesson for the authorities concerned and should teach them that they must always try to solve a case instead of ignoring it. Tourists having problems should be helped until the end so that they would not feel they had been abandoned.
Authorities should not cover up any information about the case so that the affected tourists know what is being done to help them.
He added the video would surely affect the tourism in the province and the region for a long time to come.

German falls to his death from 56th floor at Pattaya Park Tower
PATTAYA:--A German National reportedly fell to his death from the 56th floor at the Pattaya Park Tower in Jomtien on Thursday Night.
Police and rescue workers were called to the 5th floor terrace of the Pattaya Park Hotel just after 7.30pm by Security Guards, one of them witnessing the fall as he patrolled around the Hotel.
It was confirmed by Police that Mr. Stefan Heiner Volkl aged 39 had jumped off a balcony on the 56th floor. Mr. Volkl was staying at the Nova Gold Hotel in Central Pattaya in Room Number 808. Staff at the Hotel revealed he had checked in alone on 6th November and was due to check out on 9th November.
Mr. Volkl was also carrying a note which requested Police to contact his Wife in Germany which appeared to be signed by the apparent suicide victim.

BANGKOK: -- A SYDNEY man has been arrested after AFP advice in Bangkok and charged with sexually abusing a seven-year-old Thai boy.
The 51-year-old was detained at Bangkok's international airport on Thursday as he prepared to fly back home after two weeks in Thailand, Australian Federal Police said in a statement.
Police allege he abused the boy while he was staying at the child's uncle's home in the eastern city of Chantaburi.
The investigation began in October after Thai police received a tip-off from AFP detectives.

A 42-year-old Canadian engineer stabbed a 59-year-old Thai lawyer 50 times after he caught him with his live-in Thai girlfriend. The Canadian had returned unexpectedly from an overseas business trip, and walked in on the illicit lovers in his Bangkok home.
BANGKOK – November 10, 2012 [PDN]: A report of a man being fatally stabbed was received by the Kannayao police station in Bangkok. A police team rushed to inspect the scene. The incident occurred in a house at 418/63 Harbetia village, Tambon west Sarmwa, Amphur Klong Sarmwa.
At the scene, police found the victim’s body in a second-floor room of the house. He had been stabbed more than 50 times all over his body. He was identified as Mr. Komsan Aksornchart, age 59, occupation lawyer.
The man who killed him was identified as Mr. Macos Beyond, age 42, a Canadian engineer. He was in the house and gave the knife to police and surrendered himself without escaping. Also in the house was the suspect’s girlfriend, identified as Ms. Patcharaporn Pinorn, age 42.
During questioning, police discovered that Mr. Macos and his girlfriend had lived together for 6 years in the house, which he had bought to live with Ms. Patcharaporn. But Mr. Macos seldom stayed in the house because he often had to travel abroad.
Meanwhile, Ms. Patcharaporn was studying for a master’s degree at Ramkhamhaeng University, where she became acquainted with the Thai lawyer. On the day of the stabbing, Mr. Macos had flown back from abroad unexpectedly without telling Ms. Patcharaporn beforehand

BANGKOK: -- Psy’s global K-pop megahit Gangnam Style is making the news in Thailand again – for all the wrong reasons.
Two young men in Ubon Ratchathani Province in northeast Thailand are in serious condition after a man shot them, one in the face, with a shotgun in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to newspaper Khao Sod.
Their crime? Dancing the chubby Korean superstar’s trademark Gangnam Style “horse dance” at a temple fair.
The alleged shooter, Wichet “Boy” Kunket, 19, is on the run.
His alleged victims had been partying at Ban Non Hong Thong Temple in Rai Noi Subdistrict, during a fair celebrating the offering of new robes to the monks there.
When the trouble started, Worakit Chankong, 24, and “Lek”, whose name has been changed because he is 17, were dancing in front of the mor lam stage (mor lam is a type of bass-heavy Northeastern dance music).

Truck spills acid near Bangkok

BANGKOK: -- A truck carrying 4 tonnes of nitric acid overturned yesterday, spilling the chemical on to an expressway lane of Kanchanaphisek Road near Bang Bua Thong just north of Bangkok.
Police sealed the area shortly after 9.30am and contained the spill by spraying water and fire-extinguisher foam. A motorcyclist who rode past the area reportedly inhaled the chemical, fainted and fell off the bike, and traffic in the area became heavily congested.
Truck driver Niwapong Deeraksa, 25, who was slightly injured, told police the left rear wheel suddenly came off while he was driving, causing the truck to turn sideways and 540 litres of nitric acid leaked out.
In related news, Bangkok City and Land Transport officials will organise an accident drill tomorrow for trucks carrying chemicals or fuel on Chao Kreetha Road in Lat Krabang to test 300 officials' capacity to manage such dramas.

SATTAHIP:--On Monday Afternoon a German resident in Sattahip reportedly stabbed a Golden Retriever a total of 17 times following numerous attacks by the 2 year old dog on his Pet Rottweiler.
Police were called to a Village in Sattahip by the Chief of the Village, just after 2pm, to investigate claims the German, named as Mr. Alfred Gatt aged 65, stabbed the Golden Retriever until he died.
The dead dog belongs to Chief Petty Officer First Class Gampon aged 43 and his wife, Khun Vilawan aged 42 who both witnessed the attack along with other villagers. They were prevented from approaching as Mr. Gatt is alleged to have threatened anyone who came close ,with his knife which Khun Vilawan claimed he would keep strapped to his trouser belt whenever he took his Rottweiler for a walk due to problems with the Golden Retriever who would often bite the Rottweiler according to friends of Mr. Gatt.

PHUKET: -- The Australian man who fell 18 floors from a Patong hotel balcony earlier today is recovering at Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town.
John Hurley, 39, suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung, serious injuries to his right leg and a broken left hand in the fall.
His leg was nearly torn off in the impact and he suffered deep bruises to his body, a Kusoldtham Foundation rescue worker told the Phuket Gazette at the scene.
“He landed on the clear plexiglass roof on the second floor and then hit the extended cement terrace of that floor,” the rescue worker said.
“It took about 10 minutes to get him to Patong Hospital,” he added.
Staff at Patong Hospital confirmed to the Gazette that Mr Hurley has since regained consciousness and was transferred to the Vachira Phuket Hospital this afternoon.
Capt Teerasak Boonsang of the Patong Police said they were now questioning witnesses known to have seen or spoken with Mr Hurley before his fall.
Mr Hurley was staying at the Royal Paradise Hotel & Spa, which dominates the Patong skyline.
“We found a chair on the balcony of his hotel room and on the chair was one of Mr Hurley’s shoes,” explained Patong Police Deputy Superintendent Kittipong Klaikaew.
“Also, hotel records show that Mr Hurley called Australia 15 times before his fall,” he added.
Rescue workers at the scene said they could smell alcohol on Mr Hurley.
Lt Col Kittipong said that Mr Hurley was due to check out of the hotel today.

PATTAYA: -- Police arrested an Austrian magazine owner in a Thai resort town on charges of attempting to blackmail a German multinational consumer products firm, police said Wednesday.
The technology crime suppression police unit Tuesday arrested Peter Alois Anton Neunteufel, 61, at his apartment in Pattaya, 100 kilometres south east of Bangkok.
Neunteufel, the owner of the German-language ThaiFokus monthly magazine, had lived in the beach town for more than seven years.
Interpol had traced a blackmail threat to Neunteufel’s computer, and informed Thai technology crime police off, the department’s chief Police Major General Pisit Paoin said.
The Salzburg native had allegedly sent emails to a well-known German consumer goods manufacturer threatening to leak stories saying the company was selling contaminated food unless it paid him 15million euros, Paoin said.
The emails also threatened to plant poisoned food items bearing the company’s brand name on shelves in supermarkets.
Neunteufel will be extradited to face charges in Germany because the unidentified company is based there, Paoin said.
"He was always looking for a buyer for his magazine in Pattaya," said Hans Fritschi, a Pattaya-based Swiss national who started The Farang magazine there. "I don’t think ThaiFocus has been publishedfor several months now."

A fight broke out in a local pool shop between players on neighbouring tables. Witnesses report that the men were both drunk and began to argue, then shout and finally end up in a huge argument at which point the killer drew a 9 MM pistol.
When confronted with the armed assailant, the dead man showed no fear and instead defended himself with a pool cue as they both moved out into the street. In anger, the dead man dared the gunman to shoot him, which he duly did.
Shot in the head, neck, waist, and shoulder, the dead man was recovered from the street by police and emergency services, as he lay alongside his snooker cue and a can of beer. The killer escaped in a pickup truck prior to their arrival. Six empty gunshells were recovered.
Both daughter and family quickly ran to the scene and were comforted by locals as Ambulance services removed the body for forensics.

A 27-year-old Russian man got broken-hearted by a beautiful Thai girl in Phuket. So he drank too much alcohol, and then got a heart attack and died, police suspect.
PHUKET: -- November 14, 2012 [PDN]: at 2:10 a.m., a report of a male Russian tourist found dead in his room was received by Pol. Maj. Col. Pathapee Seechai, the detective officer of Katoo police station, Phuket. He rushed to the scene with Pol. Col. Jirapat Pochanapan, the director of Katoo police station; and Pol. Lt. Col. Somsak Tongkliang, the detective inspector; and the detective team.
The death was reported by Mrs. Areeya Kokesatone, the manager of Amara Guesthouse Hotel in Patong. She had found his body in a third-floor room.

Police initially assumed his death was alcohol-related. The continuous flooding of his body with so much alcohol may have shocked his circulatory system and caused a cardiac arrest. Police speculated that there also could be a genetic predisposition to heart disease. So the police sent the man’s body to Patong hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

PHUKET: -- November 14, 2012 [PDN]: at 2:10 a.m., a report of a male Russian tourist found dead in his room was received by Pol. Maj. Col. Pathapee Seechai, the detective officer of Katoo police station, Phuket. He rushed to the scene with Pol. Col. Jirapat Pochanapan, the director of Katoo police station; and Pol. Lt. Col. Somsak Tongkliang, the detective inspector; and the detective team.
The death was reported by Mrs. Areeya Kokesatone, the manager of Amara Guesthouse Hotel in Patong. She had found his body in a third-floor room.

Following recent, reports in local media of a German man killing a 2 year old Golden retriever, the German resident, accused of the act, has come forward and been interviewed by local police.
In his statement, the 65 year old admitted the killing but wanted to clear up the matter and explain his actions
As the owner of a trained Rottweiler himself, the man is a dog lover and not hater. In fact it was as he walked his own dog, on a regular basis around his own home, that the 2 year old Golden Retriever, which was never tethered or locked in a yard, regularly attacked him and his own dog.
Previous to the attack in question, the police had received at least one complaint from him regarding the animal and the owner appeared to have made no attempt to secure his pet.
On the day of the killing, the German man was excercising his dog round the area close to his home when the Retriever once again attacked his dog, and refused to go away.
The man then went into his own kitchen and came out with the knife, to protect his dog and hopefully drive the animal away.
Instead it attacked him and bit him, causing bruising and injury to his leg and arm, and drawing blood. At some point the German admitted losing his temper and in a fury, stabbed the animal to death.

Russian stabs two Security Guards outside Insomnia Pub in Pattaya’s Walking Street
PATTAYA:--Following an altercation inside the Insomnia Pub located in Walking Street, South Pattaya, early on Thursday Morning, a Russian Tourist was ejected by Security Guards who were then challenged to a fight outside of the club. The fight took place and the Russian, who was found to be carrying a packet of Marijuana in his trouser pocket, is alleged to have produced a knife and stabbed both guards. All this taking place inside Pattaya’s Tourist Safety Zone which some now suggest is not working.

A 30-year-old Japanese tourist visiting Surat Thani apparently committed a ritualistic hara-kiri suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach in his hotel room. Police believe he had been pickpocketed, and speculated that the disturbed foreigner decide to die by the traditional way of the Samurai.
SURAT THANI – November 22, 2012 [PDN]; a report of a foreign tourist killing himself in his hotel room was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Sirichai Suksatt, the detective officer of Muang police station in Surat Thani.
He went to check the scene with Pol. Col. Suwat Suksri, director of detective forces; along with the forensic police; a medical team from Surat Thani hospital; and a rescue team from the Kusol Satta foundation.
Police arrived at the scene on the 3rd-floor room of a 5-story hotel. They discovered the body of Mr. Kosai Konagachi, 30 years old, from Japan. He was lying face down on the floor in a pool of blood. He was wearing black shorts and a blue, short-sleeved T-shirt.
There was a big wound in his stomach that looked like it had been slashed open with a knife. Police could see his intestines, and there was a knife dropped nearby. They expected that it was the hara-kiri knife, and the foreigner had committed the ancient Japanese ritual of suicide by stabbing his abdomen and disemboweling himself.
Police checked the room, which showed no traces of a struggle. They found a wristwatch, a clothes bag containing a set of clothes, and a wallet with 4,150 baht cash, and 180,000 yen.
Police also found a department store receipt for a T-shirt, a knife and a bottle of milk. The police took all the recovered property to give to the relatives of the deceased.
When questioned, the hotel staff told police that Mr. Kosai had checked into his room on November 21. Then he came down to ask the staff about the entertainment spots in Surat Thani. Later in the evening, Mr. Kosai went out to the nearby mall. But after returning, he never left his room after that.

Thai police fire tear gas at political rally
BANGKOK, Nov 24, 2012 (AFP) - Thai police on Saturday used tear gas at an anti-government protest in the capital Bangkok, the scene of several outbreaks of violent unrest in recent years.
Police fired 10 tear gas canisters at a group of demonstrators who removed barbed wire and barriers blocking their route past a UN building close to the main protest site, police said.
"So far tear gas was used in one area because protesters did not comply with the rules," said national police spokesman Major General Piya Uthayo. "No casualties were reported."
Thousands of police have been deployed for the rally at the Royal Plaza which is organised by the royalist group Pitak Siam, which opposes Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's government.
The authorities expect tens of thousands of people to attend the demonstration, the first major street protest against Yingluck's 16-month-old administration.
Police estimated that about 10,000 protesters were gathered by about 9:00 am.
The government has invoked a special security law, the Internal Security Act, in three districts of the capital to cope with possible unrest.
Yingluck on Thursday voiced fears the protesters aimed to use violence and to "overthrow an elected government and democratic rule", in a televised address to the nation.
Politically turbulent Thailand has been rocked by a series of sometimes violent rival street protests in recent years, although an uneasy calm has returned after national elections in 2011.
Two months of mass opposition protests in 2010 by "Red Shirt" supporters of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra sparked a deadly military crackdown that left about 90 people dead and nearly 1,900 wounded.
Thaksin's sister Yingluck is now prime minister after his political allies won a landslide election victory last year.

Hundreds of Thai schools shut over militant attacks
BANGKOK, Nov 27, 2012 (AFP) - Teachers in insurgency-wracked southern Thailand decided Monday to suspend classes at hundreds of schools in the region over the killings of education workers by Muslim militants.
"We want to put pressure on security forces and the government to take greater care of our safety," Boonsom Thongsriply, chairman of the teachers association in the region, told AFP.
The move means 321 schools will temporarily shut from Tuesday in Pattani, one of several southernmost provinces plagued by an eight-year-old insurgency. It is unclear when they will reopen.
The unrest has claimed more than 5,300 lives, both Buddhist and Muslim, with near-daily bomb or gun attacks.
Teachers working in non-religious schools are frequently targeted because they are seen as a symbol of government authority. Militants view the school system as an effort by Bangkok to impose Buddhist culture on the south.
More than 150 education workers have been killed in the Thai south since 2004. The latest victim was a head teacher who was gunned down last week.
Critics accuse the government of failing to address the grievances of Thailand's Malay Muslim minority, including alleged abuses by the military and a perceived lack of respect for their ethnic identity, language and religion.

A Sydney man was forced to wait for six days in Thailand after local police allegedly tried to blame him for a motorcycle accident that killed his girlfriend, despite CCTV video proving he was not to blame.
Jamie Keith and Nicole Fitzsimons were holidaying in Koh Samui last month when the tragic accident unfolded.
CCTV cameras captured the moment a local driver, allegedly travelling at 80km/h, careered straight into the couple as they waited to turn into their resort on a motorcycle, A Current Affair reports.
"We came to a stand still waiting for an on-coming scooter to go past," Mr Keith said.
"This almighty bang just hit us from behind and I just remembered flying across the road and sort of blanked out for a second.
"I yelled and screamed for help. I was telling her it was all going to be okay."

After the 245th Border Patrol Police Company lodged a complaint about missing weapons with Muang Nong Khai Police Station on Tuesday, Border Patrol Police launched a probe against officers in charge of issuing weapons.
"We will wait to hear the results," Sakda said. The investigation should provide some crucial clues within a week, he said.
"At this point, we have been told that hundreds of guns and RPG launchers have disappeared," he said.
A source said hundreds of government RPG launchers and guns had lately gone into the black market.
